Construction Field Inspector (SEASONAL CONTRACT PAID HOURLY)

General Description

Reporting to the Department Manager, this position will be responsible for the Inspection, Contract Administration and some Project Management related to the field review for the construction of land development projects, including sewer, watermain and road infrastructure.

 

You will work together with clients, municipalities and contractors on constructability reviews, quality assurance and resolving construction issues. This is an exciting opportunity with career growth potential targeted to learn the skills necessary towards management and leadership in the Contract Administration group.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Inspect construction activities to ensure compliance with the contract documents, drawings, and specifications;
  • Maintains a daily diary for the work completed, including video / photographic records;
  • Assist the Contract Administrator with various duties, including preparation of Payment Certificates, management of Change Requests and Claims, Contractor’s RFI’s;
  • Record, review and address contractor questions and clarifications by reporting to the Contract Administrator for resolution;
  • Maintain regular communication with the Contract Administrator regarding site progress and to resolve issues as required;
  • Liaise / coordinate with service providers for specialized inspections and / or testing.

The following qualifications and criteria are required:

  • MINIMUM 3 YEARS previous experience in the civil construction field, familiar with construction methods and provincial standards for sewers, watermains and road infrastructure;
  • Be detail oriented and a strong sense of responsibility;
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work well in a team environment;
  • Have excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Possess computer skills including word, excel, PDF markup and windows applications;
  • Hold a valid Ontario driver’s license;
  • Have use of a personal vehicle (for which there is reimbursement);
  • Possess safety boots, hard hat and safety vest.

Interview: Our recruitment process will be completed with video conference technology or in-person.

Contract Position: Seasonal Contract paid hourly.  Working hours are as needed based on construction activities taking place.

Working Hours:  Regular hours are Monday-Friday during construction activities.  Must be able to work on weekends and nights, as required;

Location:  Work will be onsite, mostly in Prince Edward County.
